At Blacktown Health we have a great team of male and female Physiotherapists who can help you understand and recover from any back, neck, shoulder, hand, hip, knee, or foot problems.
Our Physios in Blacktown can help with any back or neck pain, spinal disc injuries, rotator cuff tears, bursitis, muscle, ligament, or tendon problems. From simple strains and sprains, or complete tendon tears, we can help.
After surgeries to your spine, shoulder, hip, or knee, it's so important to follow a proper rehabilitation program to get your range of movement and strength safely, so you can get back to moving around properly again.
Injuries at work are common and can get confusing when insurance companies are involved. Our team of Physios help you navigate the claims process and provide proper treatment so you can recover and get back to work safely.
When bones break, the type of fracture determines what type of immobilisation is required to help it heal. Our Physios can help with casting and bracing broken toes, ankles, knees, backs, wrists, and fingers.
Neurological conditions like Parkinson's disease, stroke, multiple sclerosis, and spinal cord injuries all impact the body physically. Our Physiotherapists can help you along your rehabilitation journey to relearn and adapt to living normally again.
Play sports and get injured a lot? Our Physios can help you recover from any sprained ligaments or torn muscles. We can also help condition your body with special programs that help you perform at your best and reduce injuries from happening.
It all starts with our Physiotherapists in Blacktown sitting down and getting to know you. We'll ask things like how your health condition first started, what makes it better or worse, what treatments you've tried, and how it impacts your life. This helps us figure out what's going on and how we can best help. Many people bring along any previous scans they have, so we can explain in detail what they mean and if they actually matter or not.
People often want different things out of seeing a Physio, and it's important for us to know what matters to you. This could be as simple as getting rid of pain, to getting stronger, being able to pick up the kids easier, or completing your first running marathon. With different goals comes different treatments and we will tailor our assessment and treatment to achieve your goals.
Next is a detailed assessment of how your body moves. Our Physios in Blacktown will do a full assessment and measure things like your range of motion and muscle strength, check how controlled the movements are, and feel for any tightness or stiffness in your muscles and joints. We can also do some special tests to help rule in or rule out certain conditions, so we can be sure of what we're dealing with. Sometimes we might send you off for some X-rays or MRI scans so we can have all the information we need.
"So what's actually going on?". This is the most common question people ask our team when they see us. Our Physios in Blacktown take the time to really explain your health condition using pictures, diagrams, and our anatomy software. This often includes how the condition might have developed, the examination findings, any X-rays or MRI scans you have, what treatments are available, and how effective they all are.
We know everyone is unique and responds differently, so we've made sure to train ourselves with a wide variety of treatment options for people to try. Our Physios can provide hands on techniques like massaging muscles, joint mobilisations, joint manipulations, dry needling acupuncture, and even shockwave therapy. For exercise options, we take your preferences into consideration, and can design a personalised program that you can do at home, in the office, or at the gym.
The goal of our management is to not see you again. Once any symptoms have settled and you're getting back to the things you want to be doing, the goal is now to maintain and prevent any future problems from coming back. This usually involves a strength and conditioning program, such as simple exercises you can do at home to keep you strong and flexible.

No, you do not need a referral to see our Physiotherapists. Our Physios in Blacktown are trained as primary care practitioners, meaning they are able to diagnose and treat most musculoskeletal problems that come in. If you do have a complex medical history though, having a referral from your GP or specialist will help us!
On your first appointment, bring along any scans, referrals, and your private health insurance card if you have one. It's also good to bring some loose clothing you can change into (e.g. singlet or shorts). This helps us access the area during any examinations and treatment.
Generally the first session takes 45 minutes for us to get through all the questions about your condition and treatment. For follow-up sessions these usually take 30 minutes. For people with more complex issues, or if you have multiple areas, a longer session can be booked for 45 minutes.
The costs to see the Physiotherapist are listed here on our fees page. For the first session the cost is $130, and for any follow up sessions the cost is $100.
If you have private health insurance, they usually cover around half the cost, and you can expect to pay around $60 out of pocket for the first session, and $50 out of pocket for the follow-up session. Please check with your specific health fund for a more accurate quote.
If you have a referral from your GP under a Medicare Team Care Arrangement / Care Plan / EPC program, then the cost is $42 out of pocket. These can be bulk billed with some of our Physiotherapists for those experiencing financial difficulty, or if specifically requested by your GP.
For our senior Titled Physiotherapists, the cost is $150 for the first session, and $110 for any follow-up sessions. With Medicare referrals, the out of pocket cost is $52. Unfortunately bulk-billing is not available for the senior Titled Physiotherapists.
Every health fund provides a slightly different rebate, depending on what your specific policy is. For most health funds, they cover around half the cost to see the Physiotherapist, and most people pay around $60 for the first session, and around $50 for their follow-up sessions. You can check with your health fund directly to see how much the cost will be. We use the 500 code for the first session and the 505 code for any follow up sessions.
Yes! If you are experiencing financial difficulty and have a referral from your GP under a Medicare Team Care Arrangement (also known as a Care Plan or EPC referral), we can bulk-bill Physiotherapy sessions, which will be at no out of pocket cost to you. This is only available with some of our Physiotherapists though, and not our senior Titled Physiotherapists.
