What can our Chiropractors in Blacktown help you with?

Neck & Back Pain

We use various techniques to help treat neck and back pain such as soft tissue therapy, stretching, mobilisations, manipulation, and exercise therapy to alleviate pain and improve function.

Headaches

Stiff and tight joints and muscles in the neck can cause pain and headaches, and gently getting them moving again can help. Our Chiros can use gentle stretches and give satisfying cracks.

TMJ Jaw Pain

Clicking and painful jaws are often a sign of temporomandibular joint (TMJ) disorders, and these can be managed with special treatment at the jaw and muscles around it by our Chiropractors.

Scoliosis

Our Chiros can screen and monitor for any developing scoliosis in children, and help provide treatment and exercises to limit further progression. For any extreme cases, we can refer you for special bracing and surgery.

Peripheral Joints

Our Chiros are all trained to manage a wide range of other musculoskeletal conditions that affect the shoulder, elbow, wrist, hip, knee, and foot joints too. This almost always involves some hands on treatment and exercises.

Exercise Therapy

To help maintain any gains and prevent recurrences, exercise programs are vital. Our Chiros can help teach you simple stretches, spinal control exercises, and even heavy resistance training with weights and bands.

What will a Chiro session at Blacktown Health look like?

01

Tell us your story

It all starts with our Chiropractors in Blacktown sitting down and getting to know you. We'll ask things like how your health condition first started, what makes it better or worse, what treatments you've tried, and how it impacts your life. This helps us figure out what's going on and how we can best help. Many people bring along any previous scans they have, so we can explain in detail what they mean and if they actually matter or not.

02

Set your goals

People often want different things out of seeing a Chiro, and it's important for us to know what matters to you. This could be as simple as improving your posture, getting some exercises to whilst working at the desk, to getting rid of pain or recovering from a pinched nerve or disc injury. With different goals comes different treatments and we will tailor our assessment and treatment to achieve your goals.

03

Get a proper assessment

Next is a detailed assessment of how your body moves. Our Chiros in Blacktown will do a full assessment and measure things like your posture, joint range of motion, muscle strength, check how controlled the movements are, and feel for any tightness or stiffness in your muscles and joints. We can also do some special tests to help rule in or rule out certain conditions, so we can be sure of what we're dealing with. Sometimes we might send you off for some X-rays or MRI scans so we can have all the information we need.

Your condition explained

"So what's actually going on?". This is the most common question people ask our team when they see us. Our Chiropractors in Blacktown take the time to really explain your health condition using pictures, diagrams, and our anatomy software. This often includes how the condition might have developed, the examination findings, any X-rays or MRI scans you have, what treatments are available, and how effective they all are.

Treatment tailored for you

We know everyone is unique and responds differently, so we've made sure to train ourselves with a wide variety of treatment options for people to try. Our Chiros can provide hands on techniques like massaging muscles, joint mobilisations, joint manipulations, dry needling acupuncture, and even shockwave therapy. For exercise options, we take your preferences into consideration, and can design a personalised program that you can do at home, in the office, or at the gym.

Maintainance and prevention

The goal of our management is to not see you again. Once any symptoms have settled and you're getting back to the things you want to be doing, the goal is now to maintain and prevent any future problems from coming back. This usually involves a strength and conditioning program, such as simple exercises you can do at home to keep you strong and flexible.

Frequently asked questions

How do I make an appointment to see the Chiropractor?

To make an appointment, please call us on 02 8662 0496, where you can speak to our receptionists to find a time that suits you. You can also Book Online through our online booking system. We also use HotDoc and HealthEngine if you are signed up to them too.

Do I need a referral to see a Chiropractor?

No, you do not need a referral to see our Chiropractors. Our Chiros in Blacktown are trained as primary care practitioners, meaning they are able to diagnose and treat most musculoskeletal problems that come in. If you do have a complex medical history though, having a referral from your GP or specialist will help us!

What do I need to bring with me?

On your first appointment, bring along any scans, referrals, and your private health insurance card if you have one. It's also good to bring some loose clothing you can change into (e.g. singlet or shorts). This helps us access the area during any examinations and treatment.

How long are Chiropractic sessions?

Generally the first session takes 45 minutes for us to get through all the questions about your condition and treatment. For follow-up sessions these usually take 30 minutes. For people with more complex issues, or if you have multiple areas, a longer session can be booked for 45 minutes.

What is the cost to see the Chiropractor?

The costs to see our Chiropractors are listed here on our fees page. For the first session the cost is $130, and for any follow up sessions the cost is $100.

If you have private health insurance, they usually cover around half the cost, and you can expect to pay around $60 out of pocket for the first session, and $50 out of pocket for the follow-up session. Please check with your specific health fund for a more accurate quote.

If you have a referral from your GP under a Medicare Team Care Arrangement / Care Plan / EPC program, then the cost is $42 out of pocket. These can be bulk billed with some of our Chiropractors for those experiencing financial difficulty, or if specifically requested by your GP.

For our senior Titled Physiotherapists, the cost is $150 for the first session, and $110 for any follow-up sessions. With Medicare referrals, the out of pocket cost is $52. Unfortunately bulk-billing is not available for the Senior Chiropractors.

How much does my private health insurance cover for Chiropractic sessions?

Every health fund provides a slightly different rebate, depending on what your specific policy is. For most health funds, they cover around half the cost to see the Chiropractor, and most people pay around $60 for the first session, and around $50 for their follow-up sessions. You can check with your health fund directly to see how much the cost will be. We use the 1002 code for the first session and the 1006 code for any follow up sessions if you'd like to contact your health insurance company for an accrate quote for your rebate.

Do you offer bulk-billing for Chiropractic?

Yes! If you are experiencing financial difficulty and have a referral from your GP under a Medicare Team Care Arrangement (also known as a Care Plan or EPC referral), we can bulk-bill Chiropractic sessions, which will be at no out of pocket cost to you. This is only available with some of our Chiropractors and doesn't include Senior Chiropractors.
